Adobe Has Discontinued Flash Player For Mobile Browsers.

No Mo Flash

Looks like Mr. Jobs was right on Adobe Flash Payer. Adobe announced that it has discontinued developing Flash Player for mobile browsers. Here is what they said :

Our future work with Flash on mobile devices will be focused on enabling Flash developers to package native apps with Adobe AIR for all the major app stores. We will no longer adapt Flash Player for mobile devices to new browser, OS version or device configurations. Some of our source code licensees may opt to continue working on and releasing their own implementations. We will continue to support the current Android and PlayBook configurations with critical bug fixes and security updates.

As a web designer, I remember back in 2003 when I was creating Flash sites for clients and then being called in 2009 to redesign a non flash version. Its a good thing we have invested in HTML5 development here at Square. :)

Heres the actual announcement from Adobe themselves.

Fax Your Documents Without A Fax Machine

support : November 9, 2011 5:21 am : Small Business Portal

Do you still use an old fax machine tied to a dedicated landline? If so, I understand completely. There are still a lot of people that still send and receive faxes. We have several clients that fax over non digital documents or images with hand written corrections and signatures. Id like tell those of you who still use those clunky fax machines and phone lines that there is a more inexpensive and more modern way to send receive those faxes.

We have looked into the most popular e-fax services out there and wanted to save you some time by posting our easiest and most favorite service.

Sending A Fax
myfax.com offers an easy to use e-fax service that sends and receives faxes through up to 5 email addresses. The way it works is you open up your mail client like outlook, mail.app, or gmail and proceed to send an email by clicking in the To: field. What you do is instead of a typical email address, you simply type the 10 digit phone number you are faxing to and then add @myfax.com. (2810000000@myfax.com)
Add a subject, attach a pdf, image, or word doc and send! Thats it. You even get a confirmation via email. The only other thing I recommend is a Scanner to scan those physical docs you may need to fax. Even with a scanner your are saving money when you cut that dedicated line and workspace on your disk.

Receiving Faxes
When you receive a fax it shows up in your inbox in the form of a PDF. You can then store it or print. Its easy.

Check it out for yourself, as of right now they offer a FREE 30 day trial.

Here are some of the new updates included, streamlined conversations, elastic density, new HD themes, improved search, and “smarter navigation”.

Check out the video below and see the changes for yourself. We have been using this on our company emails for a while now, and we like it very much.

Easy To Use Business Phone Line with Line2

support : October 8, 2011 12:30 am : Small Business Portal

Hello again business owners, I wanted to post another essential service that can help you manage your business a little better.  The service is called Line2 and it is from Toktumi. It is basically an additional phone line for your smartphone. You get your own number and various tools that allows you to manage your number much like a PBX. You can forward to other numbers, set separate voicemails for calls made during and after business hours, and you can have an auto attendant that can help your callers reach a certain dept at your business, like support or customer service.

The cost for a business line is $14.95 a month and one used on your smartphone, it can be used over wifi when you are at the office or even on 3G when there is now wifi available. Best part is, no contract! You even get a trial period to try it out.

Read more about it after the jump.

Good time to get a tablet

Eric : September 9, 2011 12:39 pm : Small Business Portal

Too busy to get in front of a computer to check your emails and social media streams? Get a Tablet

I find that it is easier for me to check my social media streams, emails, and search analytics on my tablet before I go to bed or in the morning. I would normally recommend the iPad to our customers because of  how many useful business apps you can get along with its hassel free and stable OS. However I have been slowly liking the new android honeycomb platform. ( Im a sucker for the eye candy) But up until recently tablets running the honeycomb system were in a price range higher than the lower end iPad. Today (for a limited time) can get a refurbished Motorola’s 32gb Xoom tablet with a 5mp camera and wifi for only $399. (Awesome)

Get your hands on this while supplies lasts. Easily check your emails, update your social media streams, post to your blog and stay connected with your siteMotorola Xoom 10" Ad.3.0 WiFi Tab/1yr. War/ Bundle visitors. If you consider yourself technologically illiterate, then I still recommend the iPad. Its easier to pick up and learn.

Heres the jump for the Xoom
